Note:
The following is a list of the minimum amounts and types of supplies you will
need; and you may need additional materials for special projects. Should you
want to experiment with other drawing media in relation to special end-of-term
“finals” projects, please check with me first.
All
of the materials on the list are required for successfully completing this
course and you must acquire them.
Paper
Drawing Media
-Graphite pencils, one of each—4H, 2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B (look at Koh-I-Nor or Berol brands, get all of the pencils in one brand)
-Graphite sticks—(2 large)
-Charcoal pencils, two of each—2B, 4B, 6B (or “medium,” “soft,” “extra soft”)
-Vine or Willow Charcoal sticks, 1 large box (soft) -White Conté Crayons, package of 2
-Blending stumps—medium size
-Soft rag or blending chamois
-Black India ink—one bottle
-Bamboo “sumi” brush—size #1 or #2
-#00, 0 and 1sablette watercolour brushes
-Very fine point artist’s drawing pens in black only-- .005 or .01 or comparable pen diameters (look at Staedtler, Pigma-Micron, or Zig-Millenium for comparison)
-Drawing Nib: #513 Extra Fine Globe Nib and Standard Nib Holder
Misc. Supplies and Equipment
-One pencil sharpener (metal, not plastic)
-X-acto knife (for shaping or sharpening points on graphite and charcoal pencils)
-Two kneaded erasers, large size
-One white vinyl or white plastic eraser (recommended Staedtler brand)
-One roll of 1” wide drafting tape (do not use masking tape; must be low-tack)
-Push pins—one box
-One large portfolio, about 24” x 30”, to carry drawings, paper, etc.
-Drawing Board (store bought or Masonite board cut-to-size to accommodate 18”x24” paper -One small tackle box, “art bin,” or old grade school lunch box to carry supplies
-One can of workable fixative, consider Krylon brand for comparison.
-Small plastic container to hold water
-Rubber or cork-backed 18-inch Metal ruler
